Maggie Tran currently teaches Advanced Placement US History, US History, and World History Honors courses at McLean High School in McLean, Virginia. She earned her BS in History with an emphasis on European History and Secondary Education from Appalachian State University and a Masters of Education from the University of Virginia.
She was a member of the History Department at West Springfield High School in Virginia that won the 2005 American Historical Association’s Beveridge Family Teaching Award, and in 2010 she was named West Springfield High’s Teacher of the Year. She has served as a Master Teacher for American Council of History Education, National Council for History Education, and Teaching American History teacher programs in eight states. From 1998 until 2006 she served as a Faculty Consultant for the Advanced Placement US History Exam. She has presented on team teaching strategies for the Vietnam War at national meetings of the National Council for the Social Studies.
